Aids Vaccine (Truvada Overview) | Does It Exist?

Video Text

The AIDS vaccine doesn't exist. When I was in Sacramento, my hometown, I saw on the side of a bus and advertisements saying that the new AIDS vaccine is out. That's right, something you could take to prevent getting the STD aids as long as you take it before you're exposed to AIDS. Well, I had kept asking everybody about it cause I want to know if it's legit. I just don't want to go online and see a bunch of propaganda. Finally, last night, one of my friends that lives here in this foreign country said that his a lot of his very wealthy friends we're taking this AIDS vaccine so that they could have unprotected sex and, uh, you know, with a lot of girls in other countries without getting a risk of getting AIDS, he said that the limiting factor was the cost in the United States. The cost of the vaccine was somewhere around three thousand dollars a month, and this is just coming from him. But I'm actually gonna read you some actual data on then. Yet here you could get it in this foreign country and many other foreign countries, generic versions for only three hundred dollars per month so still very expensive, whether it's in the U. S. Or outside the U. S. And not something that insurance is probably likely to cover. So let's go into what this is. It's called Truvada tr ue v a d a Truvada, and I'm not going to read it to you. It says Truvada for P R E P, which is her pre exposure prophylaxis, is a prescription medicine that could help reduce the risk of getting HIV one when taken every day used together with safer sex practices. So I presume this was developed for people who are in marriage or relationship with people with AIDS to be used in combination with, uh, condoms or if they want to take the risk than use the vaccine for the person who's not infected with AIDS. To be able to have sex with someone who isn't things with these, by the way, we just got our STD test done yesterday. We get him done frequently and because she and I have an open relationship and we get our results today, Huh? Right. We get our results today, right? We're going to go for four PM Yeah, all right. It says, uh, Truvada for P. R E P is on ly for adults who are at high risk of getting HIV through sex. You must be HIV negative before you start taking Provide us so it's not a cure for HIV. Uh says that, uh, this is the disclaimer that many HIV one test can miss the HIV infection for a person who has recently become infected. So if you have flu like symptoms, you could have recently become infected with HIV. Tell your health care provider if you have flu like symptoms within the last month before starting or any time taking Truvada. Symptoms of a new HIV infection include tiredness, fever, joint or muscle aches, headache, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhea, rash night sweats and or in large lymph nodes, the neck groin. While taking Ramada, you must continue to use safer sex practices. Just taking Truvada for P. R E P may not keep you from getting HIV one. They usually have to give these disclaimers. My assumption is that this drug is probably very effective, but they have to also give the disclaimers because there's, you know, the one in the one in a million chance that you know something. It still happens that someone still gets it to help further reduce the risk of getting HIV. No, the HIV status and the status your partners get tested for other sexually transmitted infections because other infections make it easier to get HIV. Uh, do not miss any doses of Truvada. And let's see if let's go, let's go back and see what the dosage is in the protocol, Travolta is actually a mix of two different drugs that work together to prevent, uh, hiv. Um, here we go. So it's Ah, two hundred milligrams of E m T R I C A T A B E i N E M Trickett Turbine and three hundred milligrams of ten off tenofovir disa proxy from a rate So I'm going to go to the I'm gonna go to the pharmacy here and see if I can actually get this. Not that I really need it here, but I'm going to see if I could actually buy it with the actual prices. And then I'll do a follow up video for you guys. But I just wanted to say that this is something that sounded too good to be true. And so that's why I wanted to look into it. And now I wouldn't have posted video if it weren't for the fact that I actually talked to someone who's all of his friends are actually on it like they're actually using it. And, um, I would say it's working some Friday night. I haven't heard that it hasn't been working. Um, and then the issue of the cost is probably the main limiting factor, but we need to do some more research into what the side effects are and the costs and availability

PrEP has been around for a few years. It’s not a vaccine. Essentially it’s a mix of drugs that can be similar to those used for patients already infected with HIV, but the dosage and the composition is designed for people that don’t have HIV. The idea is to have drugs in your body that would kill the HIV before it starts spreading and infect your immune system. In Thailand, some drugstore can sell it around $15 a bottle which is good for 30 daily doses.
